Napco January Calendar Cutie

Napco January Calendar Cutie

Napco National Pottery Corp produced the figures in the Calendar Cuties birthday set in the 1960s.  Each figure represents a month.  See these figures in the Kathleen Deel  “Napco” book on pages 26-27.
This is the January figure celebrating the New Year.  She is holding a clock showing 12:05 and a horn in the other.  She has red bows on her short pigtails, is wearing white panties and has the number 1 at her feet.  She is 5.25 inches tall and in good condition.  It looks like the arm holding the horn broke off and was re-glued.  The paint is excellent.  On the bottom she is marked Napcoware C-5761.
These figures are perfect to remember a birthday, to celebrate a holiday or for a collection.  I have owned a set of these for years and have no space to display them anymore.  I will be listing them all for sale.

Napco Madonna and Child Planter

Napco Madonna and Child Planter

Napco Madonna and Child Planter

This Madonna and child planter is unusual as it depicts them as enshrined in a arch with a cross at the top. Blonde Mary is wearing a blue veil and pink dress and faces down with her eyes closed as she holds a young blonde Jesus wearing a yellow gown. The arch is shaded light brown. This is quite a serene looking piece. This would be the perfect gift for a Catholic mother or someone who is ill. Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or repairs. The planter is 6 ¾ inches tall, 5 ½ inches wide and 4 inches deep. There is a Napco ceramic label on the bottom and the number AR40338.

Shawnee Deer and Fawn Planter

In the 1940s and 1950 Shawnee did a series of planters featuring deer. This green and yellow planter can be found on page 168 of “Shawnee Pottery Encyclopedia” by Pamela Duvall Curran. This planter features a mother deer watching over the fawn at her feet. Behind them is a low planter shaped to look like a tree trunk and leaves. The deer are bright yellow and the planter is a beautiful medium green. This deer and fawn planting dish is 6 inches tall, 6 1/2 inches wind and 5 inches deep. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. I do see a small mark on the edge of the planter that looks like it was done during the manufacturing process as it is covered by glaze. The bottom is marked Shawnee USA 669.
